2014 Programme: July to November

July 24 (Thursday) at 2pm in the Constance Barnicoat Room Tasman District Library.  Diana Clark will speak on her great- grandfather, Appo Hocton, the first Chinese immigrant in Nelson.  She will have copies of Karen Stade’s book on Appo for sale at $20.00.  Afternoon tea followed by our monthly meeting.

August 28 (Thursday) at 2pm in the Constance Barnicoat Room Tasman District Library.   Karen Stade will speak on World War I with a Powerpoint presentation.  Afternoon tea followed by our monthly meeting.

September 23 (Tuesday)   Meet at Mapledurham (8 Edward St Richmond)  Assemble on the lawn at 2.00pm.  Mrs Carol Syme will give us a guided tour.  Afterwards, we will visit the original Stables (6 Edward St) where Mrs Jayne Watkins will show us her home, now extensively renovated.  NB  This is a members and invited guests only outing.

October 28 (Tuesday)  Meet at Hoddy’s Orchard in Aniseed Valley Road at 2.00pm  – the second entrance from the corner.  After a tour of the old homestead, follow MaryAnn to the Busch Grave on the other side of the Aniseed Valley Hill.  Bring your own afternoon tea which will be at the Twin Bridges picnic ground.  Visitors and new members welcome.

November 25 (Tuesday)  Our Christmas end-of-year celebration.  Venue – Christine Grieder’s home Willow Bank, 1163 Main Road Wakefield.  Note time – 11.30am.  Please bring food for a shared lunch and a gift of up to $5.00 in value.  We will enjoy our time honoured festivities, a quiz and parcel swap game.
