NELSON’S EXPERIENCE OF WORLD WAR I – talk given by Karen Stade 4th Sept 2014

There was a good attendance in the Tasman District Library’s Barnicoat Room to hear the former president of the Nelson Historical Society speak on how World War I affected the lives of the people of Nelson.Nelson’s Experience of World War I – talk by Karen Stade

Her talk was well illustrated with contemporary photographs, one of the most interesting being the Wakefield Districts float of the NZ hospital ship Maheno, constructed on the back of a Hodgson truck and driven to Nelson on Gala Day 1915.Maheno Float
