Our society is extremely fortunate to have in Wakefield access to a property which seems tailor-made for a history group.
Christine Grieder and her partner Kim Kerslake collect and construct quirky, small buildings which house Christine’s amazing collection of almost anything old and interesting from china, to old-fashioned washing machines, small snow sleds from Europe, Smurfs and fully furnished miniature houses. She also likes animals and has recently obtained some of the rare goats from Arapawa Island.
She also, very conveniently, has a small church building with all the facilities for entertaining large groups.
It is therefore no wonder that each year we now come to Willow Bank for our Christmas lunch. Today, 25th November 2014, was no exception.
It was also an opportunity to view the four most recent buildings that Christine has acquired since last year and – we were reliably informed – just days from the positioning of a small bakery which should appear this week.
Where will it all end? I doubt that Christine has any idea of the answer to that question!
