It was time for our Annual General Meeting. The room was booked. The reminders had been sent out – but where were the people?
The election of officers did not take long:
1. The President (Roger Batt) continued for the third year of his current term. 2. The Vice President (Wayne Price) was elected unopposed. 3. The Secretary (Jeannine Price) standing for her 10th and final time was elected unopposed. 4. The Treasurer (Maryann Mann) stood again for her second year and was elected unopposed. 5. The Committee members (Shona Barber, Virginia Gray, Barbara Harris) agreed to stand again and no other nominations were received. Finances The Treasurer presented her report (soon to be ratified). We have more money than last year owing to the sale of our publications (most recently The Way we Were) We had sold 56/75; there were still notecards and postcards to sell and more of River to Range. Membership Currently we have 40 financial members – an increase from 28 last year. President’s Report (See elsewhere on this site) He stated that the last year was probably the most interesting and productive year for the society during his time as President. The highlight was the unveiling of the Harkness Information Board at the entrance to the Tasman District Library. Project for 2015-16 This was the production of a tourist brochure to be entitled “The Rutherford Trail” which would highlight the places in the district which had been associated with Lord Rutherford. We were particularly encouraged by the support we had received from Nelson College who endorsed the project. Show and Tell The items of interest brought by members proved to be wide-ranging and diverse.
